The year did not start well for tennis lovers in Argentina. Juan Martin Del Potro has announced he will not be able to take part in the Australian Open because of the injury suffered at Shanghai Masters in 2018.
The Argentinian suffered a fractured kneecap after a bad fall in the match with Borna Coric. At that time, Del Potro was already qualified for the ATP Finals in London, but was forced to end his season due to injury. In 2017, Del Potro won the his first Masters tournament and reached the third spot in the ATP Rankings, his best result so far.
Del Potro’s career, one of the best players in the world, has always been interrupted by many injuries, most of them on his wrist.
The Argentinian has announced on Twitter that the recovery from the fractured kneecap is great, but he will not be able to participate at the Australian Open. Last year, Del Potro reached the 3rd round of the Australian tournament.
